JoAnn Schuh: co-author of cookbook

JoAnn Schuh is one of 9 children who grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She raised 5 children - Dan, Greg, Krissy, Theresa and Kim - while embarking on many various and interesting careers. JoAnn recently retired after working 12 years for the Prioresses at Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She does private catering in her spare time and keeps busy marketing two cookbooks which she wrote with Barbara Lynette, and thinking of the next book she just has to write. In the dedication portion of their first book, AS TIME GOES BY: WW II Cookbook, she shares the following:

I dedicate this WW II cookbook to the memory of my mother Orea Kramer Rosinsky. I remember her always being in the kitchen with her wrap around apron on - always baking or cooking - the house filled with aromas of bread, kolachys, Sunday roasts and dumplings. She cared for nine children and buried two of them from tragic accidents. She never questioned who she was or what her purpose in life was to be. She got up each day and worked hard. She loved her children and especially her grandchildren. I don't think she ever said I love you to any of us, but it was there - it was in her - it was in the refuge of time - the time she gave to her family. Here's to you mom - thank you for the time, the memories and the love you bestowed on me, your daughter.

Thank you to my remaining siblings, Bob, Don and Paul Rosinsky, Mary Ann Peterik and Judy Kaye. Thank you to my children, Dan, Greg, and Krissy Schuh, Theresa Allen and Kim Porzig. Thank you to my twelve grandchildren. I hope and pray "As Time Goes By" the memories I leave for you are as warm and wonderful as the ones I grew up with.

Barbara Lynette, Co-author of Cookbook

Barbara Lynette is a retired hairdresser and avid photographer who currently works at Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a Graphic Designer, Web Administrator and "jack of all trades" in their Development Office. Barbara grew up in North Miami, Florida and moved to Colorado Springs in 1975 with her husband Skip and two children Troy and Danielle. Her children, daughter-in-law Jennifer and three grandchildren - Ryan, Christian and Lindsay - all live in the Denver area and keep things exciting and fun!  Barbara shares the following on the dedication page of AS TIME GOES BY: WW II Cookbook:

I am blessed to be daughter, sister, mother (and mother-in-law, grandmother and friend - and very proud wife for 39 years of retired Air Force Master Sergeant “Skip” Lynette who continues to love his country with the same passion that he cares for and loves his whole family. “You truly are my rock.”

Embarking on this journey with JoAnn has been nothing short of a labor of love, laughter, a “few” sleepless nights and a fulfillment of a dream she shared with me several years ago. We discovered while working together at Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, Colorado that we had so many things in common - from an incredible love of our families to a deep respect and reverence for the men and women who lived during the 1940’s - those who served abroad and those who “served” at home - especially you, Mom! This is dedicated to all of you! We are especially proud of this project, and you honor us when you spend time with our dream-come-true.
